She has a mental history and a history of lying and is currently seeing a therapist. I saw her 3 days after she had been placed in foster care and she had a huge black eye and a laceration across her nose. I lost it!!! DFACS and the police have been very MEAN to us to say the least. They lied to the judge. They did not want our daughter on the stand because of her black eye. She only received medical attention because she called her therapist from the school nurse office on Monday and told her that her eye hurt and that she was in foster care. We really need some help from a lawyer that has the "Ba_ _s" to fight against DFACS, the police, and the judge who admitted "hearsay" and denied my husband his 6th amendment rights under the law. The judge overruled everything that my lawyer objected to due to irrelivance. This is a living hell!!!! Can anyone help? DFACS is now involved and are making my life hell because my bi-polar pshyco mother- in- law likes to make false accusations. Funny thing is my EX has not even benn contacted by DFACS. Me and my children are the victims here remember?? Why isn't DFACS calling him three times a week, or asked to take drug test every week? I was out of town and my husband was watching her. She rolled off the couch and fractured her leg. They told us it could only be child abuse and she has not lived with us since. DCFS has lied to us many times and never follow through with anything unless it helps them. It has been a terrible experience and I do not know how to deal with these people. They have now charged my husband with criminal charges. they will now not give her back to us. We have jumped through all of their holes. It is getting to be more than I can handle. If anyone knows of a good lawyer that deals with this kind of stuff. PLease let me know. The case is being taken before the UK High Court, but has again been postponed until September. Does anybody know anything we can do to get some action??? Name: Hometown: Coralville, Iowa Sent: 2:14 PM - 6/20 First of all, I agree with both Sam Sloan and Amy Collins about child protective workers getting out of hand and getting away with destroying children and their faith system of being with their parents forever. I am now 21, but for the first eleven years of my life, I lived in the state of Illinois. I lived in an area known as the Quad Cities. DCFS (Department of children and family Services) hounded my mother. The caseworkers were new each time a relative or a nosey neighbor called them to "report" abuse. These people that called for some reason didn't like my Mother's response to requests. Sometimes neighbors asked for twenty dollars or ask to use the phone to call out of the country and mother said she wasn't going to risk her fiances to pay someone's debt that would be going on her account. In retaliation, these people would phone DCFS and a caseworker would be assigned. For the first fours years of my ordeal, a caseworker came by at least twice a year. When I was 5, a DCFS caseworker (male) broke his way into my home and assaulted me and my Mother. A trial took place 8 years later, but he was found not liable. This means that the jury didn't find him Not Guilty. So evidence in court must have turned a few ears and the jury must have agreed on Mother's side a slight bit about the possiblity that this DCFS case worker did in fact assault me and my Mother. A month after the assault (in 1984), my half brother and I were taken from my mother and placed in Foster care. My half brother was aloud to stay with his father, but in my situation, DCFS stated on record that I was not aloud to be placed with Family members, or close family friends. My half brother and I were eventually returned. The following summer(1985), I was again being harrassed and Mother's attorney at the time, called her and told her that I was going to be taken from her and that a hearing is scheduled for that very afternoon. I wasn't placed in custody. DCFS attorneys were late and the judge already made a decision. There was no evidence to try to have me placed in Foster care. Several years went by, and in 1988, caseworkers came to my grade school and had me strip searched in the Principal's office. DCFS wouldn't allow the school nurse or a member of the school staff (such as the vice principal or a teacher) to stay with me while the strip search was being conducted. DCFS went to my mother's home and told them that they found "evidence" to use against her in court. This was only a scare tactic and no charges were ever filed. DCFS was urging mother to voluntarly give up her rights of me. Mother was told that they had prospective parents willing to adopt me and that I was a "sure fire" canidate for such an uphevel. Mother and I eventually fought back. I had school teachers, a speech therapist, a school counsular, the principal, and others who came to my home to visit with DCFS and have a meeting to convince the agency that I was not being abused nor neglected. That bought mother some time. We eventually moved across the river into Davenport in the fall of 1989, and just a month later, DCFS was on me like a barnacle. They wanted custody of me again and arranged a hearing regarding custody in Rock Island. The hearing was a no show. Mother, Myself, a school counsular, and a current sitter, that I was staying with while mother worked, waited for four hours. Mother went up to a clerk announcer and she was told that the hearing was cancelled. As you have just read, you are probably thinking If I have any psychological problems. I don't except for flashbacks. I have a mild case of attachment disorder. I counsel people now who are moving to Illinois and whom have lived in Illinois about the dangers of DCFS. The whole system of child protective service agencies need to be whole heartly investigated by responsible people. I hope my story helps others who have had to face similar situations or at least try not to tick off nosey relatives, neighbors, and friends who could "use the system" and create havoc rather than help.
