Name: Sent: 09.46 - sun 30 jun 2002 and to answer hopalongs comment..i was there when in Belfast at the end of last season in Hard Rock, when Scott allison said he wasnt leaving Steelers too..Having seen this sort of thing once too often from players, who lets face it are there to do a job of work, for their benefit, not ours..i tend not to believe em when they cry undying love for a team etc...This kissing the shirt and what have you thats creeping in from football always makes me wonder.. Shaggy..and I was saying that it happens at ALL clubs when a player leaves to another rival..not just sheffield..or Notts..Fans are very fickle..you have as many as we have..you have only to read any GB or forum to realise that.. scuff (Red Steeler) Name: hop a long Location: notts Sent: 01.03 - sun 30 jun 2002 An i dunno baaht owt cummin from a great hieght as far as steelers r concerned either. sfunny anall cos i wos there when carps promised a shed load of pantherfans that he an steve roberts wood not join squeelers and then did . Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers home #72 Jinman Location: Nottingham Sent: 23.59 - sat 29 jun 2002 Scuff - whilst 'A Nonny Mouse' may be a little heavy-handed, they do have a bit of a point.... Scott Allison being virtually worshipped up the road, and now some (not all) Steeler fans regarding him either as the antichrist, or trying to rewrite history and sort of make his reputation a little grubby (having just watched "Life Of Brian" on TV tonight, I'm irresistably reminded of the old man Mathias - "I'm old and slow, my legs are weak, my sight is dim..." ;-)) Personally, I never liked Steve Carpenter much anyway - good at open-ice hitting, but what a gob.... ;-)> Name: Sent: 23.02 - sat 29 jun 2002 Ahhh..anonymous and the code of the Steeler...which can be adapetd to 'code of the Panther...in the case of Steve Roberts, Steve Carpenter, Selmar Odelein, Chris Kelleand...need I go on? Actually this can be extended to 'code of the <insert name of any sports team in any sport here>'..cant it, anonymous soul? scuff (Red Steeler) Sent: 22.32 - sat 29 jun 2002 Let us all bow down and pay homeage to The Honorable Code Of The Steeler > > "Thou shalt bow down and worship all that belong to the Steelers, no matter what s##t they pull, and shall forever regard them as part of The Family - > at least until they bugger off and join some other team, in which case they are The Scum Of The Earth and thou shalt S##t On Them From A Great Height" Name: Simon Morley Sent: 22.19 - sat 29 jun 2002 Moi.... do ya need any lighter fuel for that shirt ? hahahahahahahahahahhahahahha...... larf at you Name: Simon Morley Sent: 22.03 - sat 29 jun 2002 Moi.... do ya need any lighter fuel for that shirt ? hahahahahahahahahahhahahahha...... larf at you Name: moi The Hockey Shirt You Wear: ally but i'll burn it now Location: sheffield Sent: 20.41 - sat 29 jun 2002 can i jus ask is ally pickin ya team for ya or sumet Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers home #72 Jinman Location: Nottingham Sent: 20.09 - sat 29 jun 2002 Well, in the spirit of trying to stay off the contentious/opinion-based subjects, has anybody heard what's happening re the Ahearne Trophy games? Are they definitely being held in this country again, or is it going to alternate between the UK and Germany? (which would seem the fair way to do things). Cost-wise the UK option is far better, but it would be fun to make it an away tourno.... Name: hop a long The Hockey Shirt You Wear: oilers Location: notts Sent: 17.50 - sat 29 jun 2002 Why oh why oh why does every debate on this gb have to fall in to another debate about opinion , we all know that thats what they are so why not just give them !!!!. p.s judas brebant has been hated for what happened when he left nottingham and manchester as well i think so he will get no justice on here scuff so id give up if i was you ;) . Hope ash gets his deal wiv panthers soon. keep smilin ;) Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 15.46 - sat 29 jun 2002 SROG Dave Simms is not annoying me, I'm just saying he has been acting like a muppet. Of course if I were Cam Bristow I would be more than a little annoyed, and I would be looking to play a lot harder next time I play Sheffield. Name: Sent: 14.54 - sat 29 jun 2002 Tom...(and Shaggy for that matter) As you say..its all about opinions.. As long as we respect the right to state these opinions (usually over a pint) then theres nowt up with us making observations..i wouldnt expect anybody to change their views on DS on anything other than the actions of DS... Methinks our friend SROG has the right attiude in all this.. scuff(Red 'suffering badly with hayfever and in VERY bad mood' Steeler) Name: SROG Location: NOTTM Sent: 14.45 - sat 29 jun 2002 I've always found that the best thing to do when something's annoying you, is to ignore it & eventually it goes away!!! one can but live in hope!! ;-> oh & there's an article in 2days evening post, sez that Ashley Tait still wants to come back to Panthers & hasn't signed with anyone else yet, but wants to get any deal sorted in july...... Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 14.12 - sat 29 jun 2002 Scuff, "B) Because I believe that if the Brummie was working for the Panthers, Storm, or even the Knights, then i reckon that that the majority of utterings that pass from his lips would be shrugged off as 'all in the game - stop moaning' by whomevers team the man was employed by..Sorry if that upsets folks but hey, theres enough other people on here, that offer opinions of this nature" No other person in the game makes the comments that Dave Simms does. I personally would not hesitate to criticise Gary Moran, or any other hockey professional, if he made this kind of comment on a player of another team. No we don't dislike him because he a steeler, we dislike because he is Dave Simms. We admit he does do some good things especially for the Steeler organisation. But I dread to think what non-hockey fans would think of his actions and so I believe he is liability to ice-hockey in general. Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 13.57 - sat 29 jun 2002 Chez, Personally I feel that to take this discussion to the Steeler Forum would come very close to Trolling. Are you really suggesting someone should do that? Anyway having a "gratuitous shot at the Bigmouth Brummie" is a defining characteristic of any self-respecting panthers fan and as such any debate which involves it has every right to be on this guestbook. :o))) Name: Sent: 13.51 - sat 29 jun 2002 Quote: "Scuff - any "gratuitous shot at our Brummie..." is pretty much a given, especially with his record. Why do you insist on defending him to the last?" A) thats not a defence..its an observation on my part..Ahhh I forgot the rule of UK hockey..'Any opinion, observation or comment offered by a Steeler fan is not valid as they are not real hockey fans' B) Because I believe that if the Brummie was working for the Panthers, Storm, or even the Knights, then i reckon that that the majority of utterings that pass from his lips would be shrugged off as 'all in the game - stop moaning' by whomevers team the man was employed by..Sorry if that upsets folks but hey, theres enough other people on here, that offer opinions of this nature. The man has been around hockey long enough now for people to realise that its not a hobby for the bloke..or that he's there just to piss off a few Panthers fans or Stormies..He is also an agent for hockey players and has been for some time..you think he could be reasonably succesful at that if anybody in the the hockey world that mattered ie coaches players etc took the hump every time he opened his gob? Shaggy.. i'll defend him whilst ever you leap in...(tho even you dont think he's at fault here) I'm that sort of person..8-) and Chez..the posting was about 'hockey and people in hockey'.. isnt this a hockey forum? scuff (Red Steeler) Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: hadden Location: Derby Sent: 13.00 - sat 29 jun 2002 Why all the Simmsy crap again? Do it on steelers forum!! Argh!!!! Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 12.44 - sat 29 jun 2002 Brebant has always had a reputation for not being popular with his own teammates. I seem to remember that after leaving Nottingham to goto Newcastle all kinds of rumours came out about the rest of the team hating him, especially the British players. Graham Waghorn in particular loathed him and spent the entirity of his first game back lining him up for big checks whether he had the puck or not and managed to connect a few times. Obviously the ref didn't like Brebant either because Waggy was not called on even the most blatant charging offences. I have to admit this is why Waggy is one of my all-time favorate players. As you can tell Brebant isn't. Doesn't stop him being a very capable player who works hard for his team, but even so I would not want him back. Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Pathers home #72 Jinman Location: Nottingham Sent: 12.32 - sat 29 jun 2002 Scuff - any "gratuitous shot at our Brummie..." is pretty much a given, especially with his record. Why do you insist on defending him to the last? And what about Westerdale? - surely that cr*p he spouted is more than just a "little snippet" ?? It's a total lack of respect.... Name: Simon Morley Sent: 12.25 - sat 29 jun 2002 "When we heard that we pulled out; we don't want any fragile players on our team." err...... does Simsy not understand the words.... No I don't want to play for ya... Ya can't pull out Simsy ya plonker, he doesn't want to play with for ya, ya backstabber.. Why should he ? you've shown how ya treat players that leave ya 'Family'..... Personally I think he has no problems with either Blaiser or Brebant, he has afterall just played for Heavey.... I'm guessing he's more concerned about the damage that your rantings to the press and other agents might cause to his career if he decides to move on after a season or 2. What ? In the whole league, you mean ? Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 10.36 - sat 29 jun 2002 Scuff, Whose getting in a tis about Dave Simms? Not me. All I am doing is giving my opinion on the article, which is that it is an unpleasant swipe at a player who does not want to a steeler. Is that such a terrible thing. It is also my opinion that whilst Dave Simms does not not provide any really nasty quotes about the player, he knew what he was doing, and what the end result would be. I may be wrong about Simms but my opinion is based mostly on his previous actions and not solely on this article. Again it is just my opinion. It seems more like you are the one getting in a tis about my opinion of your hero. ;o) Name: Sent: 00.37 - sat 29 jun 2002 Tom...come off it mate...this latest story in the Star is nowt to get in a tiz oer...It is the silly season, thers chuff all news other than no news up here so this little snippet has emerged..Think about it...the player has made the comment, its been reported on and somebody else has given an opinion..happens every day on telly, radio...and in the papers.. And to be honest, it just looks a gratuitous shot at our Brummie... i had you marked as better than that mate.. scuff (Red Steeler) Name: Sent: 23.52 - fri 28 jun 2002 think it depends on the age over 16 it kinda means girls who sleep with hockey players because they are hockey players for all i know, and yes there have been some storming rumours of hotel rooms and playoff weeekends in the big smoke once upon a time which for reasons of taste cannot be repeated on a refined guestbook like this is !! :) Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: bultje 19 forever Location: manchester Sent: 23.30 - fri 28 jun 2002 Hi all!!!!!!!!!!!! hope everyone in nottingham is ok and doing well!! ive come on here to ask you to tell me your definition of a puck bunny. Hell, that's pretty much taken as read with that individual - I think I'd only notice if he DIDN'T come out with that attitude! ;-)> Name: Tom The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 23.13 - fri 28 jun 2002 Mark H It may not just the Dave Simms quote from the article but the whole tone of the article, which may be just down to the reporter, which does seem to have Dave Simms' typical sours grapes behind it. OK its not the worst slagging off but it does smack of a 5 year old throwing a wobbly because someone does not want to play the game there way. Name: The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers home #72 Jinman Location: Nottingham Sent: 23.02 - fri 28 jun 2002 I'd have to agree with Mark H - even as a confirmed Simms-loather, his "fragile" comment is IMHO slightly distasteful at worst - far milder than many of his rantings. The true slime of this little episode is, surprise surprise, that talentless vindictive little hack, Bob Westerdale. I mean, what possible justification can you have for making a comment like this in a major city's newspaper?:- "WHINGEING winger Cam Bristow has turned down a chance to join Sheffield Steelers because he fears one of his team-mates could be beastly to him!" Petulant, snide and petty are mild terms for that little piece of so-called journalism. Westerdale knows that Bristow can't do anythig to him - so he can say what he wants. Now there's a thought - chuck Bob Westerdale onto centre ice & let Bristow 'have at him' for a bit - rough justice in its most entertaining sense! Name: Mark H The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Sheffield Sent: 22.17 - fri 28 jun 2002 Tom...if you class calling a player 'Fragile' as slagging off, then I think you've led a very sheltered life mate. Name: Tom Homepage: Homepage Title: This is Sad The Hockey Shirt You Wear: Panthers Home/GB Location: Nottingham Sent: 21.44 - fri 28 jun 2002 Not satisfied with slagging off ex-steeler players, Dave Simms shows his complete lack of class again by slagging off players who don't like the idea of playing for them in the first place. No wonder there is a lack of signings for the "FAMILY", I wouldn't want to play there if this how they treat players they want to sign. Of course it could just be the Sheffield Star misquoting Motor-Mouth, but it does seem like the type of thing he would say. Number of entries: 999 Thank you for signing the Panthers' Lair Guestbook, unless you've just posted up juvenile abuse in which case get a life you sad Billy No Mates. [ ] |
