For the longest time I had no idea what to do for college, what I would magor in, or if I even wanted to go. I'm finally approaching the end of my junior year of high school, and one morning, farely recently, when I was half asleep, we got discussing my past (which wasn't a good one) and the conversation got lead into what I was going to do with my future. My guidance cousoler and I are very close and she has helped me through a tremendous amount of pain that I have had to endure. I raised my eyebrow, and changed the subject. The subject ended up being Law & Order SVU, then I told her that I was thinking of being a detective for the SVU myself, I ended up bursting into tears, because I thought that she thought it was stupid. She smiled and said, "I think it's a wonderful idea." These last two years so many of my friends have been raped, and I myself was sexually assaulted at a party, I want it to stop... I guess you could say I want to make it stop. I've seen what happens after the rape, and it's not pretty. My friends and I have endured some heavy things, but the stuff that's happened recently almost killed them, and me. I'm tired of being the "victum", I want to do my girls justice. I am also sick of poeple trying to shut us up, let me tell you that this does happen! You are brave to let the world let it look at it's own ugly face in the mirror, I applaude you Ms. Hargitay, for being couragous enough to let your voice be heard, you are an inspiration, and I think your talent amazes me. Anyway -- I live in Southeast Louisiana close to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and just a few miles away from U.S. 90 where your mother, Jayne Mansfield, tragically lost her life many years ago while enroute to a performance on a foggy night -- her car ran into the back of a utility vehicle. I remember that very clearly because it happened about a mile from my home in Chalmette. I also remembered that her two children were spared death and serious injury because they were reclining in the back seat of the car sound asleep. Thank God for that!! Little did I know that the little girl would grow up to be a fine actress that I enjoy watching in my favorite show, ER -- and then on Law and Order.
